berbisik lagi

bingkisan sebalik NERACA HATI
picture: rawdha-sakeena.blogspot.comDi jasad tiap insan
Diciptakan hati membendungi perasaan
Di situlah bermula
Satu pertimbangan penentuan arah
Tiada apapun jua
Diciptakan sia-sia
Tiada apapun jua
Yang terjadi tiba-tiba
Hati menjadi neraca diri
Tiap langkah harus diimbangi
Diberikan pilihan
Akal dan fikiran, hati dengan perasaan
Usahalah mencari
Kekuatan diri saat kau diuji
Umpama cermin dihinggapi debu
Demikian hatimu
Seandainya dibiarkan begitu
Pasti akan kelabu pandanganmu
Kehidupan akan jadi tak menentu
Dianugerahkan Tuhan
Pada tiap insan ada keistimewaan
Di hatilah bermula
Tiap pertimbangan tiap langkah
hijjaz-Neraca diri

Qualitatives really make sense

Alhamdulillah, today was the final day of our qualitative workshop (actually yesterday, heee). Many new things I’ve learned and I feel like cracking my head into two. Since years have left over the feeling of being a student. Perhaps, this may be the starting point for me to reheat the engine back, so I would not be really surprise soon when I begin my study for PhD. InsyaAllah…
Listen to the lectures and do some group work for the afternoon session really had dried me up. Huhuhu! Unbelievable, the motivation and spirit of being a student have long gone.. masyaAllah, quite tiring when need to focus and try gather the energy back, however the fun are there. I am enjoying a lot from what I gained from these two days of fruitful workshop.
After all, I really appreciate it so much, since years I'd been swimming in quantitative research, the methods, design… thank Allah.. Fortunately, I get the chances to explore new things from this workshop. Fresh knowledge from the market (macam dapat ikan pulak)and the most best about it is I could really understand and appreciate more about what a qualitative research is.
Besides that, there was also group work for the afternoon session taht i mention just now, well…from there I gain a lot of surprising experience by hands on the exact system of how to make data from qualitative methods to make sense. Moreover, it really make my head spin for think deeper what really about the data i gain.. just imagined that, your data gain from qualitative is the words of people, the interaction, their body language, the things around them, the voice, the arts and all the things unrelated to numbers and percentage... that's really great and i just could put it as 'wow!'. Seriously, I suddenly fell in love with qualitative research design, the methods as well as how we need to interpret the data.. seems like it really suites me.. heheheh…tada ~
credit to Prof Pranee from La Trobe University, Australia who has given us the diamonds of Qualitative Research which has open up our eyes and brain (especially for those hard science researchers, heee~ )
that's all~
please appreciate your love ones
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.
There is no life - no life without its hunger;
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;
But when you come and I am filled with wonder,
Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.
You raise me up... To more than I can be

10 things make you be a good Research Candidature
- Intelligence
Intelligence (including academic ability, intellect, brightness and common sense) was the most common quality associated with the ideal graduate research candidate.
"They need to be bright with a good dose of common sense for work in a research laboratory."
"The best students are those who are bright enough and motivated enough to work independently and submit high quality prose." - Independence / Confidence
The ability to work and think independently is one of the basic prerequisites for studying a research degree. Qualities associated with independence were confidence, initiative and the ability to take responsibility.
"They should be able to work with minimal supervision, but that does not mean that the supervisor is not available for discussions on the research being undertaken."
"Independence of thought is a key attribute that has to develop as the PhD progresses"
"The student should ideally be able to work independently and develop their own questions and pursue their own lines of thought." - Commitment
Almost half of the supervisors mentioned commitment (to gain knowledge, to complete work or to do well) as the key to successful research degree completion. Other expressions illustrating commitment were perseverance, persistence, determination, dedication, tenacity, resilience and endurance.
"The most important qualities a PhD candidate will need are perseverance and commitment, probably more so than raw intelligence."
"All of the qualities are important for the student to get the most out of their research degree; but if they have a high level of commitment (I REALLY want to do this, and well) then the rest will usually follow". - Literacy / numeracy
Literacy, mostly described as good writing and language skills as well as the ability to express and organise ideas, is highly valued by most supervisors. Some supervisors also require their students to have essential statistical and mathematical skills.
"I think that writing ability is very important - it wastes a lot of my time (and the student's) if we have to spend a lot of effort and time on correcting drafts."
"Literacy is on the list simply because time pressures don't allow a student the luxury of a lack of writing skill to start with, however writing can be taught." - Time management / organisational skills
The ideal research degree student is organised, can plan their work, meets deadlines, pays attention to detail and meets regularly with supervisors. Overall they have good study and work habits.
"A good student is one who works hard, plans their programme of work (with advice) and has the imagination to see the beauty and fascination of a research topic and then to write clearly and precisely about what he or she has discovered". - Curiosity / ability to learn
A valued quality in research degree students is intellectual curiosity and the willingness and ability to learn new things. This curiosity includes having an inquiring and open mind, as well as flexibility and adaptability.
"A good graduate student is not necessarily the one with the top grades but the one who is willing to ask questions, to challenge what they are told but is also [able] to take advice".
"The best students will also have real intrinsic curiosity about the world and about their project".
"The ideal thesis student for me is someone who brings a strong sense of intellectual curiosity to their project and who is willing and able to translate that curiosity into a dedicated course of study". - Enthusiasm and passion
A successful student is enthusiastic, passionate and has a deep interest in the subject or research.
"For me, the desire to do research and a passion for the field of inquiry are key, but they are not the only things needed."
"Although academic background is essential it is not sufficient in the absence of dedication and enthusiasm and communication skill".
"In my opinion the most important properties are a commitment to work hard, and when problems are encountered to be able to look at them from many angles and find logical solutions. Generally these traits will only come with a strong passion for the work they are doing". - Ability to think
The ability to think refers to the capacity to develop necessary research skills including the ability to analyze, synthesize, conceptualise, develop an argument and think critically. Ideal students can think broadly ('get the big picture'), laterally and logically.
"An ideal student is marked by an ability to think, ask questions, and look for the answers in research, and be prepared to write and argue about them (in writing and with supervisors)".
"The student should be able to think both at the metalevel and at the object level, in other words both about the general coarse-grained aspects of relevance and broad patterns, and at the fine-grained level of intricate details". - Hard working/ diligence
Studying a research degree requires diligence and hard work. Strong work ethics, discipline, focus, efficiency and professionalism are all necessary for successful study and research.
"PG study is hard work and dedication. Having a life while studying is also important. The best students have a balance to their lives where they work hard but enjoy their time at university too."
"Hard working and paying attention to supervisors' advice are highly required." - Motivation
Good research students have strong reasons for pursuing a PhD or Master's degree; they are ambitious and highly motivated to learn new things and get a graduate degree.
"I think one reason why so many students take too long to complete is because they are not pursuing a PhD for the right reason (or for any reason at all)"
"Self-motivation is the essential ingredient that will help make even the more challenged students successful."
"Although high-intelligence (good exam marks) are required prior to commencing graduate research I would rate motivation as the most important factor".
"A candidate for a PhD must WANT to do it, and be a self-starter"

Sheikh Ali Salleh Mohd Ali Jabir seorang alim yang juga seorang guru tahfiz dari masjid nabawi married to Indonesian women has came here in Malaysia, and fortunately he was there to deliver his tazkirah magrib.
Ketenangan yang dicari dijawab pertama2nya melalui tazkirah beliau… he was talking about MUSIBAH… based on tafsir surah Al-Baqarah (2: 155- 158)…few others yang related… As-Syura (42:30, 39-43) and Al Hadid (57:22-23).. such a bless for me, for us .. antara few of his points I would like to share and conclude here are:
1. Musibah dan azab are two different things.
- Musibah goes to both muslim and non-muslim, but azab goes for kufar
That’s about the tazkirah.. Sheikh also reminded us to always be good to parents (setiap titisan air mata ibu akibat sedih dengan sikap anak2, menyebabkan datangnya azab dan membuka pintu neraka) besides, Azab Anak derhaka tidak akan ditangguh hingga akhirat.. akan dibalas cash.. di dunia… just wait and see, if u dare...
Alhamdulillah for the night.. then, esoknya, dengan izinNYa sekali lagi jasad ini dibawa ke SUrau yang juga Sheikh yang sama memberikan kuliah Dhuha..
The main point that I get: Dasar sebuah rumahtangga yang diredhai Allah adalah
1. Taqwa – taat pada Allah dan Rasul
2. Ikhlas – buat baik balas baik, buat jahat balas baik juga ---belajar ikhlas dari sekarang…
4. Jujur
Nak eloberate panjang pula… but this is the things yang Rasulullah SAW teach us.. insyaAllah…
Yeps… these are the small things I get but significant in my journey which actually I want to get from tafakur alam.. tapi Allah mengurniakan sesuatu yang lebih baik.. dan luar biasa.. seriously, seolah2.. I get all the answer and part of my solution for my disease… Allah are Great.. and He Always great and never make us disappointed..
Selagi mana hati ini ingin kebaikan.. dan selagi mana, Allah inginkan kebaikan bagi kita.. dimana dan pada bila-bila masa, Dia akan memberikan kebaikan tersebut.. so, amat merugilah if we failed to appreciate it.. how lucky we are to be His servants..alhamdulillah…
That’s All for now..
Balighu anni walau ayyah~
